A phishing website set up by an unauthorized access
On April 27, 2008, Hokkaido University of Education (HUE) has confirmed that a phishing website has been set up in a university server by an unauthorized access. On Saturday, April 26, HUE has received an e-mail from an overseas internet settlement company that a phishing website has been set up in a university server for the purpose to collect personal and financial information from users accessing this phishing website. On Sunday, April 27, HUE has blocked all accesses to the server from outside the university. This incident is currently under investigation, and any damages caused by the phishing website is yet unknown. HUE will seek to strengthen the structure and method for information security measures.
